SUMMARY:The AI Augmented Safety Professional: Enhancing Workflows
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Frankie Wood-Black\, PhD\, REM\, MBA \n\n\n\nIntroducing Artificial Intelligence tools or “assistants’ that\, if properly implemented enhance Health and Safety. As the work demands grow\, Chemical Health and Safety (CHAS) professionals are increasingly asked to do more with less and are challenged to manage the “administrative tax” of any job. Luckily\, technology has also helped by introducing Artificial Intelligence tools or “assistants’ that\, if properly implemented\, can reduce the stress and time devoted to the “administrative taxes” of day-to-day work and allow the individual to focus on the part of the job they enjoy. However\, in the high-stakes world of chemical safety\, a “simple prompt” is not enough. This intensive webinar is designed to move safety professionals beyond basic chatbots and into the role of an AI Orchestrator.Participants will explore a hands-on Human-in-the-Loop framework tailored to thework of the CHAS professional. As part of the workshop\, you will: \n\n\n\n\nGet an introduction to the variety AI tools that are available\, learn how to Engineer Prompts to provide you AI Assistant with the information needed to support your particular task.\n\n\n\nUse AI to draft initial Standard Operating Procedures and safety manuals\, followed by rigorous expert verification protocols.\n\n\n\nUse AI to develop and enhance engaging training modules\, video scripts\, and “safety shorts” for diverse learning styles.\n\n\n\nLeverage AI to identify trends in incident reports or to refine technical communications for non-expert audiences.\n\n\n\nTake a critical deep dive into the risks of AI “hallucinations” in chemical contexts\, privacy concerns regarding sensitive lab data\, and the non-negotiable necessity of expert oversight.\n\n\n\n\nBy the end of this session\, attendees will have a personalized “AI Workflow Toolkit” designed to reduce burnout and increase efficiency without compromising the uncompromising standards of chemical safety. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweet

SUMMARY:CHAS WebTalk
DESCRIPTION:CHASWebTalks is a new\, free web series from the Division of Chemical Health & Safety (CHAS) featuring talks from ACS Spring and Fall Meetings. Join us on Friday\, October 9th from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM EDT for our first CHASWebTalk\, Professional Growth Through ACS Chemical Safety Experience. Structured as a “Pass the Mic” conversation\, this discussion will continue a panel facilitated at ACS Fall 2026 and explore how involvement in ACS Chemical Safety initiatives supports volunteer professional growth while advancing safer\, more sustainable science. We are pleased to welcome the following panelists: \n\n\n\n\nDwayne Henry (Instructional Lab Manager of Natural Sciences & Engineering\, Montgomery College TP/SS campus)\n\n\n\nSandra Keyser (Associate Director\, Safety & the Environment\, Merck & Co.\, Inc)\n\n\n\nDaniel Jacques (Chemistry Instructor & Lab Safety Manager\, SUNY Brockport)\n\n\n\nWeslene Tallmadge (Professor\, Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry\, Gannon University)\n\n\n\n\nRegister today via Eventbrite! Registration is required to receive the Zoom link and attend the live event. A recording of the CHASWebTalk will be made available online shortly after the live event. \n\n\n\nContact Monica Hensley (monica.nyansa@gmail.com) with any questions. We appreciate you sharing this new web series with your respective networks! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweet

SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Our next American Chemical Society Lab Safety In the 2YC CHAS Chat on November 19th is going to be a special one! Titled “Bridging Two-Year and Four-Year Chemistry Education”\, our excellent speaker Paul Jackson will discuss ways that 2-year and 4-year chemistry education can be bridged/connected via lab safety. It is not one to be missed no matter what level of academic institution you are affiliated with. Also\, for those who may not be aware\, CHAS stands for the division of Chemical Health & Safety. Registration/more info is below………….. \n\n\n\n💭How do two-year and four-year college students navigate chemistry programs?💭How can educators better prepare them for future academic and professional opportunities? \n\n\n\nAt the Division of Chemical Health & Safety’s next 2YC CHAS Chat\, Paul Jackson of St. Olaf College will lead an exploration of implementing laboratory safety to make connections across curricula at 2- and 4-year institutions and support student success. Participants are highly encouraged to engage in the Q&A portion of the 2YC CHAS CHAT.  Additionally\, 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬\, including a curriculum map template and a curated list of American Chemical Society resources. \n\n\n\n𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 and join us for this interactive program on Thursday\, November 19th from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM ET: https://lnkd.in/ecu_2Kx9 and contact Dwayne Henry (dwayne.henry@montgomerycollege.edu) with any questions. \n\n\n\nDon’t forget to visit us at https://dchas.org/2yc-community/ \n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweet
